Texts written in Gaza, under the daily bombardments, by Hossam Al Madhoun are spoken, slummed, performed and embodied on stage. They alternate with dance scenes, where music and the poetry of movement attempt to express what words alone cannot.
At the heart of the performance, the puppet of a three-year-old girl wanders through the ruins — suspended between dream and nightmare, between life and death.
More than a performance, this work is an attempt to make visible what is truly happening in Gaza — not only since October 7, 2023, but over seventy-seven years of occupation and violence.
The presence of two children within the stage team, alongside the fragile figure of this wandering child, makes tangible the absurdity, injustice and devastating human cost of a war waged against humanity itself — and against its children in particular.
Carried by an ensemble of artists from diverse backgrounds, including a Palestinian refugee and an artist of Jewish origin, the performance resists hatred, breaks through silence and wilful blindness, and affirms peace, justice and the right of the Palestinian people to exist and to self-determination.
